When you report an incident, an LCP Intake Team member will first review your report to determine if it falls within our mandate. If an incident doesn’t meet these criteria, we may be able to suggest alternative resources.
For those seeking legal assistance, we may request additional information via email or phone for more complex cases. Our goal is to gather enough details to match you with a suitable volunteer advocate from our Advocates Roster. Once a referral is made, we introduce you to a qualified volunteer advocate who can assist with your legal needs.
The LCP Intake Team’s role ends once the referral is completed—we do not provide ongoing legal support and cannot guarantee any specific outcome.

We aim to respond to your Incident Report within 48 hours, though response times may vary due to the volunteer nature of our team.
From there, the timeframe for connecting you with a legal advocate may vary based on the case’s nature and the advocate’s availability. We cannot guarantee a match, as we rely on a volunteer roster. To be matched, a volunteer advocate must be in the appropriate jurisdiction, have relevant expertise, and be willing to provide the specific service requested, such as legal training, information, summary advice, limited scope representation, or full representation.
If your matter is urgent or time-sensitive, we strongly encourage you to also continue making efforts to find assistance elsewhere while we are in the process of reviewing your case.
-
Connecting with and speaking with the intake team is completely free of charge. If the next step involves connecting you with a volunteer advocate, our roster includes lawyers, paralegals, and legal workers who offer pro bono, discounted, or other services based on their availability and capacity.

The LCP Intake & Referral Team (Intake Team) consists of volunteer advocates who act as Intake Officers. If legal support is needed, an Intake Team member will connect you with a legal advocate from our Advocates Roster.
The Advocates Roster is a confidential database managed by the Intake Team and includes lawyers and paralegals across Canada who are open to handling cases of discrimination, defamation, and harassment against members of the Palestinian community and their allies. It is important to note that the lawyers we refer you to are independent professionals, not employees of the Legal Centre for Palestine.

Your identifying information will be reviewed by our intake team to connect you with the best available resource, and will only be shared with a roster lawyer after obtaining your consent. This information is otherwise confidential, and will only be disclosed to law enforcement agencies in the case of a court order or in extenuating circumstances, such as when there is an imminent risk to health and safety.
Your incident report may be used support research, education, or advocacy efforts, however, we ensure that nothing we use contains identifying information. Your identity will always remain secure.
